Alzheimer’s Research UK ambassador and colleague Mark accepts charity donation from BAAS and Berneslai Homes
We’re delighted to announce another donation to charity as part of our partnership with BAAS Construction Ltd.
Property services colleague Mark Ellis is a passionate advocate for dementia awareness, having been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s five years ago. Together with his family, Mark has been determined to make the most of every day and use his experience to help others. He’s been fundraising, raising awareness, taking part in research programmes to help find new treatments for dementia, and spending valuable time with loved ones.
BAAS recently visited Berneslai Homes to meet Mark who accepted a £500 donation to Alzheimer’s Research UK on behalf of both organisations. Mark's inspiring story has been shared with colleagues as part of our health and wellbeing offer, along with signposting to advice and support for anyone affected by dementia.
Stuart Harrison, Commercial Director at BAAS, said: “As part of our ongoing partnership with Berneslai Homes, BAAS is once again delighted to make a donation to charity on their behalf. As an ambassador for Alzheimer’s Research, Mark is helping to raise awareness and hold important conversations about dementia care and support with his colleagues and others.”
Mark Ellis, Repairs and Maintenance Surveyor at Berneslai Homes, said: “After being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2020, I’ve been determined to stay positive and do everything I can to raise awareness and support more research into dementia care and research. I fundraise for Alzheimer’s Research UK and along with my wife Emma I’m part of the Communication and Media Panel, sharing advice and our experiences to help others. Thank you to BAAS and Berneslai Homes for choosing this cause as part of their social value partnership.”
Alzheimer’s Research is the UK's leading dementia and Alzheimer's disease research charity, working to support those affected by dementia with the hope of finding new treatments and a cure.
