‘Continuing to listen, learn, and improve with tenants’ Annual Report out now
Our Annual Report for 2024-25 outlines how we’ve worked together with tenants to shape services, improve neighbourhoods, and respond to what matters most to residents during a challenging time in the sector.
In the period that Barnsley became the first local authority to receive the highest C1 grading after being inspected by the Regulator of Social Housing, the report reflects on a year of meaningful progress and shared learning.
Amanda Garrard, Chief Executive of Berneslai Homes, said: “This year’s Annual Report is co-designed with our new ‘Check it Challengers’ editorial group, reflecting not only our performance but also the voices and lived experiences of tenants and leaseholders.
“Against the backdrop of the Regulator of Social Housing’s C1 judgement, we’ve embraced the opportunity to listen, learn, and improve. I’m incredibly proud of the progress we continue to make from embedding new technology like Voicescape to enhance rent collection and support, to supporting people to sustain their tenancies, overcome barriers, and reach their full potential.”
This year’s report shares performance against the Tenant Satisfaction Measures, including a peer group comparison with similar organisations, and looks at impact through case studies and examples from tenants and leaseholders. Areas for further improvement and key challenges are identified with commentary from the editorial group.
Ken Taylor, Chair of Berneslai Homes Board, said: “This year’s Annual Report reflects the strength of our commitment to transparency, tenant involvement, and continuous improvement.
“I’m proud of the way Berneslai Homes has responded to the Regulator of Social Housing’s C1 judgement, not as a conclusion, but as a starting point for even greater progress.
“The collaborative work with tenants, particularly through the ‘Check it Challengers’ editorial group, has helped to create an informative and honest report that emphasises our commitment to listening and learning. On behalf of the Board, I extend our thanks to everyone who contributed to this year’s report and reaffirm our dedication to delivering high-quality homes and great services for the people of Barnsley.”
