Meet our new stop smoking advisor
We’re excited to introduce Darryl, our new Stop Smoking Advisor, who’ll be supporting tenants who want to lead healthier, smokefree lives. This new role strengthens our partnership with Yorkshire Smokefree, a free NHS service offering a wide range of quitting support options.
Support that works for you
Everyone’s quitting journey is different, which is why there are lots of ways to get support. Our Stop Smoking Advisor can help you to get nicotine replacement therapies, Varenicline and Zyban. All support is friendly, confidential and non‑judgemental – we’ll help you to find what works for you!
The benefits of quitting smoking
Here's how quickly your body begins to recover when you quit:
- After 20 minutes: Blood pressure and pulse return to normal.
- After 8 hours: Oxygen levels improve and carbon monoxide in the body halves.
- After 48 - 72 hours: Carbon monoxide is flushed out, breathing becomes easier and energy increases.
Quitting also protects your family and pets from second hand smoke, makes your home safer, and saves you money.
Thinking about stopping?
Whether you’re ready to quit or just want a chat, our new Stop Smoking Advisor can support you every step of the way.
Email StopSmoking@berneslaihomes.co.uk or call us on 01226 787181 to find out more. Read this leaflet for more information.
Dominic Dimanna, Tenants First Team Leader, said: "We're grateful to the NHS Yorkshire Smokefree Service for funding a stop smoking advisor to join us, so we can support tenants who want to make healthy lifestyle choices and quit smoking."
“We’re excited to begin our collaboration with Berneslai Homes to bring stop smoking support directly to Barnsley tenants. Darryl will be a fantastic asset to the team, and we’re looking forward to seeing the positive work that develops between our two services!” – NHS Yorkshire Smokefree Service Barnsley
