Welcoming a new Chief Executive
We’re pleased to announce that Steve Feast will become the new Chief Executive of Berneslai Homes from 1 April 2026 following an extensive recruitment process.
He will succeed Amanda Garrard who became CEO in 2019 and has led the organisation through many changes and successes, including Barnsley being the first local authority to receive the highest C1 grading from the Regulator of Social Housing.
With over twenty years’ experience as a senior leader in the housing sector, Steve has worked for local authorities, housing associations, and a number of arms-length management organisations.
Steve will join Berneslai Homes from Northamptonshire Partnership Homes where he is currently Chief Executive. As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing, he has a real commitment to improving communities, making a positive contribution to the housing sector, and delivering great services to tenants.
Commenting on his appointment, Steve said: “I’m looking forward to joining Berneslai Homes and building on the excellent foundations already put in place by the team. As someone who lives in Barnsley and started my career at Barnsley Council I have a strong emotional connection to the region. I'm looking forward to working with the team, our partners and tenants to the benefit of the town.”
Ken Taylor, Chair of our Board, who led the search for Amanda’s successor added: “We are delighted to be welcoming Steve back to Barnsley to lead Berneslai Homes beyond the success of our C1 rating. Not only will he bring considerable experience to the role but is committed to engaging with our tenants and working closely with our partners to deliver excellent services.”
