Bright futures built with the Berneslai Homes Ambition team
Berneslai Homes’ Ambition team has announced another successful year supporting people on their journey towards employment.
Over the past year, the team has supported over 250 participants with tailored guidance, skills development, and direct links to employers. The programme has delivered measurable progress for individuals who previously faced complex challenges preventing them from entering or re entering the workforce, with 20 people gaining sustainable employment.
The programme, which is funded by the Pathways to Work Trailblazer initiative, offers tailored support to individuals who work with a dedicated Ambition Coach. The holistic approach recognises that sustainable employment outcomes are closely linked to wider health, personal, and social factors.
Support extends beyond employability to include assistance with welfare benefits, access to healthcare services, and confidence building. Participants working towards employment have completed a range of activities from updating their CVs and volunteering to gaining formal qualifications and accreditations, opening up a variety of future career opportunities.
The work of the Ambition team has also recently been recognised by shortlisting in the Best Resident Support / Wellbeing Initiative category at the prestigious Northern Housing Awards, testament to the dedication and tangible results of the team.
Dave Fullen, Executive Director of Customer and Estate Services, said: “The outcomes delivered by the Ambition team during 2025-26 show just what’s possible when people receive the right support at the right time. We’re incredibly proud of the progress people have made in working with the Ambition coaches to overcome barriers, access local opportunities, and reach their potential. It’s life changing for residents who have gained confidence, qualifications, and jobs, and we’re committed to helping even more people build brighter futures during the next year.”
The Ambition team continues to offer ongoing opportunities for residents seeking to gain employment through improving their skills, confidence, and knowledge. If you, or someone you know could benefit from working with the Ambition team to improve your employment prospects, find out more information here, or get in touch by emailing workandskills@berneslaihomes.co.uk with your name and contact details.
