Happy Yorkshire Day

Berneslai Homes marked Yorkshire Day 2026 by making surprise visits across Barnsley to say a heartfelt thank you to the tenants, colleagues, and partners who help make the borough a brilliant place to live and work.

The visits were a chance to shine a light on people who go above and beyond for their communities, support the tenant voice, help improve services, and bring kindness, energy, and pride to neighbourhoods across Barnsley.

Yorkshire Day, celebrated every year on 1 August, is all about pride in the people, places, and communities that make Yorkshire special. For Berneslai Homes, it’s the perfect opportunity to recognise the everyday contributions that often happen quietly but make a big difference.

From tenants who give their time to help shape services, to colleagues and partners working together to support local people, the thank you visits celebrated the shared effort behind creating great homes and communities with the people of Barnsley.

The celebrations were captured in a short film showing the smiles, conversations, and thoughtful moments that made the visits so special.
